About Romsey Old Cadets

About The Romsey Old Cadets

Romsey Old Cadets as Knights

The Romsey Old Cadets is a world renowned Carnival Showband who very much put the emphasis on fun.

The band has been entertaining the crowds since 1963, and have performed as far north as Manchester, with annual visits to Spalding in Lincolnshire, and as far West as Taunton, and as far east as Hastings.

They have also performed in France and Germany, and on the Channel Islands.

Helping Local Charities

Every year the Romsey Old Cadets chooses a local charity to help and support.

In the past, we have supported ManGang, Alfie’s Wish and many others.

For 2023 we are supporting Nathan Sessions. Nathan is a well-known and much-loved Romsey man who has been diagosed with stage four pancreatic cancer. Friends are trying to raise money to fund potentially life-saving treatment for him. Nathan owns his own landscaping business, and wants as much time as possible with wife Lisa and ten-year-old twins Johnny and Nula.

Carnival Fun

At Carnivals and Fetes the emphasis is always on fun. We try to entertain the crowds with our comedic routines, as well as with our music, and try to get the crowd to join in the fun.

At the very first Carnival in 1963 the band dressed as Arabs with the theme ‘Sons of the Sand’ and since then every year we choose a new fancy dress theme.

Some of them have been repeated, but see if you can guess the year for the images below. Hover over the image to see the year.

Past Costumes

Romsey Old Cadets as Clowns

This was the selected theme for our second appearance in 1964.

Formal Events

We also have a more serious side which we refer to as ‘Green Blazer’ events.

Serious events such as the annual Remembrance Day Parade, St Georges Day Parades, and Royal Green Jackets Reunion Events are not suitable for fancy dress, so we wear our Blazers and Ties.
